Crochet Embellishments and Patches

There are many small applique items that can be crocheted for sale especially if you love making lots of little bits. People love to buy them for sewing onto clothing to bring life to their attire.

If you like making lots and lots of little leaves, flowers. fish. Teddy bears and so on you can find a ready market for embellishments or appliques. Larger pieces such as hearts, stars, teddies, emblems or badges can be used as patches.

In this you are producing items for other to buy and attach or assemble to their liking.

I’ve usually tended to making these on a kind of “production line” to speed up their manufacture. I put mine in small packs of 2, 3 or 5 depending upon the size of each item.

Or you could combine leaves and flowers into sprays, flowers into hair pieces or maybe padded animals into keyring fobs.

You can always find designs to work on to match the time of year so sales can be quite regular. A word of caution here don’t offer them before you’ve made them!

I’d made a few packs of two Santa Heads. These soon sold in the run up to Christmas. I didn’t do anything about removing the listing as the festivities came and went. In January I had several orders and found myself having to produce a further 24 of the fiddly little things!! It was just as well that sales were a bit quiet. However, I’ll not be making that mistake again.

Embellishments are good to have in a basket on your stand at a craft fair because people tend to buy them when they can’t afford to buy the larger items on display

However, don’t expect to make a living out of these alone. They are just useful to have in a large collection of products. Use them to have a price balance at craft fairs, bazaars and the like.

They do help to use up ends of dye lots and any other bits and pieces of yarn that would clutter the work room because there is no use for them.
