This short pdf article is by one of the gals I learn from – Kelly McCaussey of Solosmarts.com. It talks about how she overcame her poverty mindset.
I’m sharing it with you because many crocheters have this mindset when it comes to their business. I was one of them.
For example, when I made patterns on Etsy, I would take the request for a custom pattern, develop the pattern, make the item, test the pattern, and sell the resale rights all for $5.00. Insane right?
I know there are those of you who have done similar things. You make a blanket – a twin or queen size – and charge $30 – $50 for it. WHAT? Come on.
I know you get all happy when someone buys something from you and you are honored that people pay you BUT you need to feed your kids and frankly wouldn’t you like to eat too or at least have the money to pay your credit card bill? (you know you have them)
I’m getting better at valuing myself and my work and with ladies like Sedruola Maruska of YarnObsession.com and Laurie Wheeler of CrochetLiberationFront.com I’m starting to see some great awakenings in the crochet world.
