Hobby Blogging: Commenting on Blogs

How many blogs do you comment on each week? one? two?

What would you say if I told you that you could get comments on your blog just by commenting on others blogs? Sounds too simple huh?

Let’s think about this. All blogs are social and living – therefore they need people to survive.

I know I enjoy my hobby so much that I could blog about it to the moon and back without caring about the comments. However, I also like to connect with others who share my same hobby. The only way I can do that is to comment on their blogs in other words I need to let them know I exist.

How do you find the blogs to comment on?

  • check your google reader for blogs you already follow
  • who do you follow on facebook – twitter – other social networks
  • who visits you
  • who comments on your blog

Find what interests you and connects with your blog. This is how you will find similar blogs to comment on.

How can you get visitors to comment?

  •  Bribe them :)
  • Start a debate
  • Ask them
  • Blog hop or Carnival
  • Sponsor a contest

Really do anything to encourage feedback.  Every little comment counts but what really matters in the growth of your blog is quality interaction among your readers not just the ‘great post’ type of comments.

What are the benefits of commenting?

An interactive blog is a living blog and a living blog is more apt to earn money. This is because an interactive blog brings traffic and traffic brings a targeted market of readers.

These readers bring the power of the word in products. You can use this to place ads on your site or to build partnerships with businesses that cater to your readers.
