Learning Crochet: Little Scallops Stitch

little scallops shell stitch is a smaller version of the regular shell stitch. I learned this stitch from WarmUpAmerica. It is a great charity in which I donate squares which are sewn together into afghans. If you’d like to donate, check out your local craft store – Michaels – for collection bins. You can learn the stitch by viewing their pattern. Each of their squares measure 7″ x 9″. Multiples: 3 plus 2 (7″ x 9″) square Start out by chaining 33. This will give you a pattern repeat of 9 and 8 little scallops which will alternate each row. First row: Make a dc in the 3rd chain from the hook, *[skip 2 chains and make 1sc plus 2dc in the next chain]* Repeat within stars until the last 3 chains. Skip next 2 chain and make 1sc in the last chain. Chain 1 and turn Second row: Work 2dc in the first stitch, *[skip next 2 stitches, 1sc plus 2dc in next stitch]* repeat within stars until the last 3 stitches. Skip 2 stitches and sc in the top of the turning chain 1. Chain 1 turn. Repeat row 2 until your piece measures 9″ long. Check out a sample on Ravelry.
