The Leaf Stitch is a simple stitch that uses the single crochet stitch. It gives your fabric a bit of texture and thickness which would work well for a warm hat or scarf. This fabric would also work well for a purse.

Multiples of 2 plus 1 chain

Start with a chain 11 (10 + 1ch)
Row 1: single crochet in second chain from hook and in each ch across.
Row 2: chain 1, turn; skip the first stitch, 2sc in next stitch, *skip next sc and 2sc in the next stitch * repeat within the *stars* across
Repeat the pattern until you are comfortable with it

To use this in a scarf pattern, you first need to figure out how many stitches across and how many rows your crochet piece is with your yarn, hook and tension. To do this crochet a piece 4″ x 4″. How many rows did you get? How many stitch patterns did you get?

Scarf Measurements = 5″ across by 60″ long

Example: I used a H crochet hook with 4ply Acrylic yarn. 5″ worked out to 18 chain plus 1 for my foundation row and I got 13 rows per 4″. This means I’ll probably crochet between 52 – 65 rows in order to get my 60″.
