Wednesday Linkups and a Set of Crochet Hats

Beginners Crochet Hat Set Newborn – Adult

I’m working on a set of easy hat patterns for a local crochet student. She is having a bit of a rough time with the whole “crochet in the round” and increasing and decreasing but wants a hat.  She already knows the basic crochet stitches so I thought she should make a rectangle and then sew up the top and the side.

After I went through it with her, she was so happy that she now had a hat I thought it might benefit someone new to crochet to have a number of sizes for this. So far I have the adult hat, the newborn hat and the baby hat. (3 – 6 months)

You can really use this for any stitch pattern. Just crochet a foundation chain in the length of the hat. (i.e. 9″ long). Then just crochet the circumference of the hat. (i.e. 23″) You may need to play with it a bit as I found that I needed to either increase the number of rows or decrease the number of rows which mean the hat circumference was less than 23″ but it does fit a 23″ head.

As soon as I have them all written up I will add them to the site or as a PDF download on Ravelry or Scribd.

Next, I’ve been working on a couple of stitches for the CrochetwithMom blog. This one is called the Side Saddle stitch. I’m thinking it would look nice in a baby blanket.
