5 Fall Crochet Patterns for Newbies and Beginners

Fall is a great time of year to crochet – let’s face it, every time of year is a great time to crochet – right? Here are some of my past patterns that are perfect for this time of year.

1. Simple Ami Owl is a beginner pattern for those new to amigurumi. You only need a bit of yarn, stuffing, eyes and some felt for mouth, feet and wings. You can also just crochet the wings and feet.

These are great little gifts for Halloween too in orange and black. You can add a back pocket and stick a small piece of candy inside.

You can find the free owl pattern at http://www.squidoo.com/Amigurumi-Owl along with a list of other free Owl patterns online.

2. Pumpkins are another great little crochet project for the Fall. You can use my pattern which is just an addition to Teresa’s (Crochet Geek’s) http://crochet-mania.blogspot.com/ pattern or you can select another pattern you like.

One year I didn’t have stuffing so I made a large pumpkin from Marlos Crochet Corner http://marloscrochetcorner.com/ and stuffed it with plastic bags. It worked for what I needed at the time.

3. A Crochet Squirrel would be a great addition to a woodland themed decor. This pattern is my first written pattern so it’s a bit wonky but it is still passable.

There are plenty of Squirrel patterns on the net for free and of course if you invest some money ($2 – $5) you can find a pattern with picture or video tutorials on Etsy or another handmade site.

You can find my crochet squirrel pattern plus a number of free and low cost patterns by visiting http://www.squidoo.com/crochetsquirrel.

4. Pumpkin Man Doll is a little doll form I came up with when my youngest was still young enough to appreciate my little toys. He is the one who came up with pumpkin man which is inspired by the Muffin man song.

This pattern is a bit more difficult as you make the legs, join in the middle and then work the rest of the body. The head and arms are made separately and then sewn on with a needle.

5. I love Owls and this little purse is just another addition to my addiction. This would be perfect to work up now and use as little gift bags for Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas. Just add your little treats inside.
