Automate Your List: An Introduction to Autoresponders

How to Automate Your Email List

Do you know what an autoresponder is? Ever received an email from someone stating they are out of the office and will return? That is a type of autoresponder.

That person wrote an email message before leaving on vacation and told the email program that every time someone emailed during a set period of time to send that automatic message.

You can do this same thing for your blog email list. Here’s How:

1. Brainstorm 7 topics

An example might be an introduction to various parts of your website.

2. Write emails on those 7 topics

These do not have to be long emails. Simple teach something or give a valuable tip and then link to a page on your website.

3. Link to Your Blog in Each of the 7 Emails

This brings your subscribers back to your blog.

4. Include a Call-To-Action

Again, ask them to visit your website, buy something, grab a resource, or hit reply to contact you.

5. Schedule Your Emails

You can schedule your emails daily, weekly, or monthly. Select the one that best suits your information. For example, if you use the introduction to your website series idea it is best done in a daily series.

My Hooking for Cash 101 series is set for a 31-day sequence. I also have 7-day series and monthly series.

Don’t Stop There

Once you setup the initial series continue to send out information to your subscribers that solves their problem and/or gives them value.

Each email service is setup differently so refer to their instructions on how to schedule an autoresponder. You are welcome to ask a question below in the comments. I love them as they always spark blog post ideas.

Your Turn: Do you have an autoresponder for your list? Have you ever subscribed to a list that used an autoresponder?

A couple of things to note for #31CBBC peeps: (all are optional)

  • Comments are welcome and encouraged
  • Visit the FB group and add your post for the day to the pinned post if you’d like to receive at least 2-comments on your post.
  • Join the Crochet Business Blogger G+ Community
  • Community Event: NO GOOGLE HANGOUT TODAY
  • Add your blog url to the #31CBBC linky (not the post url) – this will help you identify who is participating
  • As you are visiting other bloggers, take note of any similarities you have or complimentary projects/services you have. This is a great time to jot down the blog name and get to know the blogger behind the blog.
  • Don’t stress on writing a post each day. A picture with your thoughts, a video, a top 5 list, or simply a quote on why you like crochet all counts as a post.
