Bipolar Awareness: Not All People Living with a Mental Illness are Crazy

Bipolar Awareness with Crafters Corner Cafe

We are just living with an illness just like a person living with diabetes, or cancer or any other illness. To say we are all one way or another is Stereotyping. And I find it discriminatory.

I am not saying this to excuse anyone’s actions, but as far as I am concerned ANYONE THAT GOES ON A SHOOTING SPREE IS CRAZY whether they have mental illness or not.
Mental Illness doesn’t make you crazy. It is just an Illness.
~ Carol Parsons (Bi-Polar Awareness)

My thoughts:

I am a very blessed Mama. I have a wonderful husband and equally wonderful children. Bipolar is NOT who I am but what I have.
It is something I will always have. Medication helps with symptoms but it will always be there, lurking in the corners waiting to rear it’s ugly head.
I’m thankful for people like Carol who are not afraid to take a stand and speak their minds. It helps me know I’m not alone and that I have a story to tell too.

  1. I love that you’re brave enough to stand up and speak out against the discrimination of the mentally ill. Your story matters and thank you for sharing it!

  2. My husband also has bipolar disorder. It is an extremely hard disorder to have live with, for both the person affected and their family. Thank you for sharing your story!

    • Lorene, thanks for stopping by and sharing that. It is hard and I really appreciate those who stick by because it can be very emotionally trying.
