Week 1: Inspiration
Inspiration for a crochet design can come from anywhere. Lisa of Crochet Patterns Free shares:
“The best inspiration is from friends and family. What are they sharing on Facebook? I get some of my best selling ideas from what friends are looking at or sharing.” ~ CreateCrochetPatterns eBook
I usually get my ideas from my children. When they were younger my designs were usually inspired by Manga or Anime characters or even a book they were reading. Now a days though my ideas come from photographs, Pinterest, and colors.

I get my inspiration from all over the place! Something I see on Pinterest and I want to take it a step further; a suggestion or want from a friend; and sometimes it just pops in my head! =D

Yes, that is how it is for me. My boys are my main inspiration but now that they are older I think it is mainly Pinterest and then a specific need.
Rachel @ The Philosophers Wife says
Pinterest and Ravelry are my two favorite places to find crochet inspiration. They are both great because so often I end up stumbling upon great blogs in the process.
Sara Duggan says
Rachel, yes both of those sites are great. I’m kind of a crochet blog addict. I love discovering new ones even ones in different languages. Although I can’t read them, the crochet love is still there.
Rhondda Mol says
Hi Sara Inspiration is tricky – for stitch combinations I like to look at the stitch books from LA and my picot – most of my patterns come from a ‘need’ – something I need to make for someone – like my children – or family/friends. Cold feet – I make slippers – Hair in eyes – my focus switches to hairbands/bows/etc. Or if I am in need of inspiration – I ask people on Facebook or other social media sites…
Sara Duggan says
Rhondda, crocheting out of need is how I am now. My mom and sister usually ask me to crochet hats and throws. Stitch designs are another great inspiration especially the ones on My Picot.
