Your pattern is ready to be published. You need to convert it from a document into a PDF file first.
To do this you need to go into your word processing software:
- Microsoft Word 2007+ – click on publish as PDF
- Open Office – click on publish (download) as PDF
- Google Docs – Download as PDF
Where do you publish it?
From Create Crochet Patterns: A Step-by-Step Guide for Beginners – Susan Dougill CrochetAddictUK.com
There are many places that you can list your pattern. The main ones I use are:
- Ravelry
- Craftsy
- Etsy
- Blog
- eMagazines
- eBay
- Amazon
- Other Websites
There are many other sites out there. They each offer a different customer base. What you need to decide is whether to concentrate on one site or add your patterns to multiple sites.
The Importance of a Title
When you list your pattern give them a name that will be easy to find. Try using basic names such as “Evening Clutch Bag”. This way if someone is searching for an evening bag or clutch bag they are more likely to find your pattern.
Delivering Your Pattern
- PDF Format – common format for patterns sold on Craftsy, Etsy and/or Ravelry
- Print – an option to try when selling at craft fairs
- EBook – bundle your seasonal patterns together and sell them as an eBook
- Book – print-on-demand publications like SmashWords or Lulu Press
- Blog – publish on your blog or on a blog about crochet as a guest post
