Writing Prompt: Meeting the goals of my blog include the following tangible results: _____ page views per month, ___ new subscribers per month, ____ sales per month, ____ comments per month, and ____ newsletter subscribers per month.
Remember at the beginning of the challenge we went over the difference between goals and objectives? Objectives are the actual proof that my goals are being met.
The goal of Crochet Business Blog is to “develop an interactive community of new and returning customers via social media and my blog as well as make a steadily increasing stream of sales“.
- Interactive community – I want to engage more with my readers. I created a Facebook group for this blog with this goal in mind. I will also need to engage more on the page as well as with people on my twitter account.
- New and Returning Customers – I have newsletter subscribers that have purchased Hooking for Cash and those who have not. I need to keep these people engaged whether they bought the eBook or not. The book is only .99 so no profit is being made at all but it is the book that initiates the contact between crocheters and my blog.
- I need to know what my reader wants. I started out by creating a survey in my FB group. This is how I came up with topics for this challenge. It is what the members wanted to know more about. I will meet this need by connecting with those who have the knowledge that my readers want. (guest bloggers for this series)
- Sales – to increase sales I need to continue to add to my product line. Right now it is just the one eBook – Hooking for Cash. I will be expanding on this book by including a beginning blogging section, a setting up shop section and a business management section.
- Self Hosted Site – by the end of 2013 I would like to move to a self-hosted site. (Done 1/23/2013) In order for me to be comfortable doing this I’d like to have enough money saved to hire someone to do this for me.
- Be Official – by the end of 2013 I’d like to make this official by setting up an EIN and business name. This would mean I am actually meeting my #4 goal of increasing my sales.
- Set up a Partnership – by the end of 2013 I’d like to set up a business partnership. I have ideas of what this will look like but will discuss this at a later time.
Knowing these are the goals of this blog I need to see the proof that I’m reaching these goals. Here’s a worksheet I put together to track the numbers I want to see.
When setting objectives set actual numbers. Instead of saying I want my newsletter subscribers to increase – set an actual number. I want my newsletter subscribers to increase by ____ each month. This helps you know what you are aiming for and know when you get there.
