Today’s Crochet Business Interview is with MelDora’s Creations.
Momwithahook:
Did you set out to make money with crochet or was it an afterthought? How did you get started?
Meldora:
No, I just started to do it to fill time. My mother taught me when I was 5. I found tutorials online and decided that I wanted to learn more than the basic stitches my mom taught me.
The making tutorials myself and gaining an income only came after my repeated attempts at finding a job in Israel, when I don’t speck the language failed. This has been a God send for me!
Doing something I love and can share for free yet still make money is a dream come true.
Momwithahook:
What is the main income stream from your crochet?
Meldora:
Teaching crochet tutorials online.
Momwithahook:
How do you market your crochet business and/or crochet blog?
Meldora:
I market myself using ads on Google, Facebook, Youtube and Social Networking.
Momwithahook:
How long was it until you really saw your financial goals being met?
Meldora:
I have not currently met this yet, but if things keep going like they are, maybe this time next year. {crosses fingers}
Momwithahook:
Any advice you’d give someone new to starting a crochet business?
Meldora:
Network. Share your items on everything and with everyone you can. Always run ads where you can.
About Meldora:
My idea when I started this was to make it easy for people who knew how to crochet the basics but didn’t know how to read patterns very well or at all and wanted to learn and make things they wouldn’t be able to otherwise.
By showing them step-by-step in picture tutorials on my site and adding a video tutorial on every page from my Youtube page I’m helping them achieve something they otherwise wouldn’t have.
