Crochet Business Interview with Kawaii Crochet

Meet Alisha of Kawaii Crochet

Alisha learned to crochet in 2010 after she quit her job. Her husband encouraged her to sell her awesome pieces and she did. With his support she started KawaiiCrochet.com.

What is the main income stream from crochet?

Making money was definitely an afterthought. I learned how to crochet after quitting a job in 2010. My husband said I should sell my products and I did. He really inspired me to succeed in this.

Did you set out to make money with crochet or was it an afterthought?

I would have to say my main income stream would be from my website, Facebook, and Youtube. For my website, many people search items on Google and run into it on my site. It’s awesome to see how many hits I get thanks to search engines.

As for Facebook, I have many fans and a lot of them have their own business and tell others about Kawaii Crochet. It’s really amazing to have support from everyone.

Last but not least, Youtube. I have a couple Youtube videos showing off different items.

When did you think “hey I can make a living doing this”?

After my first year I was starting to see my financial goals getting where I want it. Unfortunately it’s not consistent throughout the year. It’s tough but if I didn’t have my husband being the main supporter for us, I don’t think I could do this for a living.

How do you market your business? (or blog)

I market my site with constant updates on my Facebook fan page. Many customers and fans I have hear from me through friends and other pages as well.

Any advice you would give to those just starting out?

Get yourself a Facebook fan page and Twitter account. Build your fan base and be kind and support other businesses because they will support you. Artists stick together.
