Retirement Community Yarn Hugs a Rainbow Bridge
Guerilla yarn bombing has been around awhile but when I see the elderly getting into it, it makes my heart glad.
Sarah Detar, 91, crocheted a red swatch of fabric while Marie Petrovich, 86, affixed the colorful squares to the long metal railing with black yarn. We enjoy it. Keeps us busy – out of trouble,” Petrovich said with a laugh. Read More (1)

Olek Dresses Up a Locomotive
I’m a fan of Olek’s work so was excited to read about her latest and biggest project thus far – a sweater for a Locomotive.
Her current work, on display in Lodz, Poland, through August 19, is an entire steam locomotive, plus two freight cars, which have been covered (down to the axles) in a skin of brightly colored crochet. Read More (3)
Plastic Sees a Whole a New Life
I love this story because it is about someone who took a dark circumstance – homelessness – and turned it around with the help of others. She is now giving back which is how it should be.

Their mom, who had been standing right behind them observing, stepped in and said, “How nice! See it is important to make things to share with your sister.” The older girl put her arm around her sister and gave her a quick hug. Read More (5)
God Saw Fit to Give Here Purls and Prayers
This group of knitting and crocheting enthusiasts are no strangers to giving from the heart. As they were shipping crocheted and knitted blankets to soldiers in Afghanistan they decided that it was time to share the love locally.
Their mission is to “knit with a purpose,” according to the group’s founder, Helen Southall.
“In a bad time, we give just a bit of support,” Southall said. “It’s a sense of purpose and a sense of helping for us, and it’s one of the best things we’ve done.” Read More (6)
