{Day 17} 31 Days of Craft Show Preparation – Creating Your Hang Tags

Continuing with preparing for a craft show series inspired by Molly today is all about Hang Tags. Tying in with her product she creates hang tags from vintage fabric. She sews the business card and hang tag right onto the fabric. I like how she added a section to tear off once the piece has sold.

Crochet Hang Tags

I don’t have a lot of supplies right now so I used what I had on hand. I cut some construction paper into rectangles, added a little shape from Word along with Item name, size and item number. I also put a place for description for handwriting what the product is.

I used a hole punch to make holes all around and then took a D crochet hook and some yarn and half double crocheted all around. In each corner I made the following (hdc, ch 1, hdc, ch 1, hdc) so that the paper wouldn’t buckle. I’m thinking if you used card stock instead of construction paper it wouldn’t do that. I also added a chain of 10 on top so I can hang it on the product with yarn or a safety pin.

On the back of the hang tag you could add your business card or handling and washing instructions.

Sample Tags for a Crochet Flower Pin

I made the tags for this flower pin from postcards. I printed my name, what it was, and contact information. On the top (not shown) is a hole so I could hang them on a turn table.

What do you use for hang tags? Do you tie them into your product line? Share your tips in the comments below.
