Day 23: Frustrated? At a Loss for Words?

Like I mentioned yesterday, one of the top producing traffic generators for this challenge was an article I wrote that linked back to this challenge.

Article marketing started for me back in 2005. I was new to writing online and kind of stumbled upon it by accident. Back then I was doing direct sales so was using the articles to drive traffic to my sales sites. I didn’t track traffic back then so really had no idea how effective it was.

My knowledge and use of article marketing has increased since then and now I even write for others. The one thing that changed was that my articles are specifically catered to the audience I’m after. Whereas before I wrote anything and linked it to my site. Now I write for an intended audience – bloggers who want to monetize their blog – specifically, crochet bloggers.

Doing this makes the biography link more like a call to action. (something else I didn’t know about back in 2005) My goal for the articles I released this month were 1. to get people to participate in the challenge and 2. to sign up for the newsletter and 3. to buy the eBook “Hooking for Cash”. So far, I’m receiving traffic from all articles.

What do you write about?

Write about crochet of course. For this blog my main target audience are those seeking to earn an income from crochet – these are what my articles are about. If you sell your product on Etsy.com or Handmadeartists.com you might just write about how to start doing that. 


You could write about marketing tips, selling at fairs, preparing your piece for photographing or anything that might interest those who crochet. Alternatively, you can write about the process of creating your piece, how to read patterns, where to find the best yarn or different crochet stitches. 

My 365 Crochet Blog Post Ideas is a good starting point if you want some ideas. You can download it when you sign up for the newsletter. (remember the ethical bribe?)
