Free Crochet Pattern: Apple Beanie

Apple Beanie This Free crochet apple beanie pattern is designed after my Apple Tea Cozy pattern. It uses half double crochet for the hat and single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet and treble for the leaves. Supplies: Crochet hook size H Red Heart Super Saver Red and Green Tapestry needle for sewing Gauge: 16 hdc across and 8 Rows for 4″ x 4″ square Pattern Notes: Hat is made in a flat piece and then cinched up at the top. With Red: Chain 30
  1. Half double crochet in 3rd chain from hook and in each stitch across. ch2 turn.
  2. Hdc in each stitch across. ch2 turn.
  3. Hdc in each stitch across. ch2. turn. [You will repeat this row for a total of 28 rows]

End off at row 28 leaving a long tail to cinch up top. Now take your ‘rectangle’ and fold it, sew the side seam closed – you will end up with a cylinder shape. Take your tapestry needle, thread the tail and weave in the top stitches. Cinch tight and sew the top closed. Make the Leaves [2]: With Green Chain 15 Single crochet in 2nd chain from hook, single crochet in next chain half double crochet in next 2 chains DC in next 2 chains Treble crochet in next 2 chains DC in next 2 chains Hdc in next 2 chains sc in last 2 chains Working on opposite side Sc in first 2 stitches Hdc in next 2 stitches Dc in next 2 stitches Treble in next 2 stitches DC in next 2 stitches Hdc in next 2 stitches Sc in last 2 stitches End off leaving a long tail to sew to top of hat. Assembly: Sew two leaves to the top of the hat. Download the PDF file with photos.
