Free Crochet Flower Brooch Pattern
Although I free handed this crochet flower brooch I’m sure Teresa (crochet geek aka Crochet-Mania.blogspot.com) or some other crochet genius is really due credit. I found a Crochet Flower video that looks similar to this so it might benefit you to take a look at her tutorial.
Supplies:
Yarn – I used Wool Ease in heather
Hook Size H or 5.5mm
Assorted craft buttons
Thread to match your yarn
Tapestry needle
Sewing needle
Glue Gun and glue
1 1/2″ pin back
Craft felt
Techniques You Need to Know:
Crocheting in the Round, Sc – single crochet, DC – double crochet, Sl st – Slip Stitch, Ch – Chain
Making the Flower:
Round 1:
Chain 3, 12 DC in 3rd chain from hook, sl st to first dc made. ch1 (12dcs made)
Round 2:
[5dc in first stitch, 1sc in next stitch]* repeat this sequence around until you have 6 petals
Round 3: ch5, sl st to next sc, Repeat this around until you have 6-chain 5 loops
Round 4:
[Ch1, 7dc, 1sc]* in each chain 5 loop for a total of 6 petals. sl st, end off, weave in loose ends.
Sewing the Felt and Pin to the back of the flower:
1. Take your felt and cut a circle about the size of the first flower
2. Sew the pin to the felt.
3. **Buttons** If you will be sewing your buttons – do so now other wise you can just wait and hot glue them to the center.
4. Sew the felt with the pin-back to the back of your flower.
Button Center:
1. Select buttons for your flower
2. Heat the glue gun and add glue
3. Once it’s warm, put a bit on your buttons in the arrangement you’d like and then glue the entire piece to the center of your flower.
