{Hooking for Cash 101} Create and Use a Blog Calendar

Book em Danno – Creating a Blog Schedule

The idea behind a schedule for blogging about your passion doesn’t seem right does it? Isn’t the point to express what drives you to create?

True blogs, especially craft blogs, are blogs to express our creative passions. However, if you choose to make blogging an income stream you need to post regularly to engage your readers.

Lesson 9

Blogging is Work

Another reason to make a blog schedule is because although you may enjoy it now, eventually it will become work. You might get writers block, get careless and post less often or you might even miss out on an opportunity to promote a sale with one of your business partners.

Back in 2011 I came across a great schedule by a fellow blogger – Jackie Lee. It is called the Blog in 2 hours a day schedule. This schedule is broken down by activity and small time blocks which made me feel like I was accomplishing something each day.

I used this for a while with some success. I do find though that my personal schedule is somewhat a mixture of different ideas. Currently, I try to blog all in one day and schedule the posts throughout the week.

I also take the time to schedule my tweets via hootsuite. This leaves me time to interact with others both on my blog and on social media sites.

I’m still tweaking this but so far this is what works for me.

In the sample calendar I made you’ll see that on Monday-Wednesday-Friday I try to post one blog post, spend time on twitter following and interacting, comment on 5 blogs and take part in 3 forums. The other 2 days I write articles to market my blog and products.

Today’s Assignment:

Figure out a blogging schedule that works for you. Write it down, schedule it in Google Calendars and try each day to follow your routine.
