Did you know that you can get a heads up on top news and articles about crochet? This is another little tool I learned about via the ProBlogger.com 31 days of blogging challenge. Before going through that challenge I’d never heard of Google Alerts.
Setting Up Google Alerts
Setting up alerts is rather easy. Just have a gmail account and enter the term or phrase you’d like to track. Select when you’d like the alerts sent – daily or weekly – and where you want them sent – email or reader.
Blogher has a great article by blogger Melanie Nelson of Blogging Basics 101. She shares how to set up alerts in 7 simple steps.
5 Ways to Use Google Alerts
- Track mentions of your name, blog, brand or articles
- Track news for your hobby – crochet
- Track videos, music, rss feed of complementary blogs
- Track your competition – not to steal but to know what’s trending in the crochet industry
- Track sales on specific products or sellers (helpful for yarn & book releases)
