Learning Crochet: Adding Appliques

Last year when I updated my wrist warmer pattern I searched my crochet applique directory for something to add to them. I found a reindeer applique and it fit perfectly with the sparkly red shimmer yarn I chose to make a gift for my sister’s birthday.

When searching for an applique pattern to add to your project look under different names not just the word ‘applique’. I considered fridgies and ornaments in my search and it delivered a wide range of possibilities.

You can also just make one up yourself. Think shapes – and then add to that.

I.E. if you want to add a tree to your winter scarf maybe making a green triangle with a small brown square will work.

Just add a few beads or other crafty items to give it a bit more personality and you have your very own applique.

Learning to crochet is easy – just take it slowly and before you know it you’ll be crocheting hats, amigurumi and scarves for all your friends and family.
