One of the questions I get asked the most by Etsy sellers is “what is the most effective way to market my Etsy shop”?

Many Etsy sellers have tried using social media with no luck. They spend hours trying to drive traffic to their shop and find that after much effort it doesn’t bring many sales.

Social media can be a great way to advertise, but you need to know who your target market is and how to appeal to them. Even when you have this information it doesn’t mean you will get the results you’re looking for.

So, what is the best way to market your Etsy shop?

Having a mailing list full of customers and potential customers is one of best ways you can market your items and drive sales. This is because everyone on your mailing list has already shown an interest in your items and this makes them much more likely to make a purchase.

The problem (up until now) is that the Etsy Terms of Use (TOU) do not allow you to contact your past customers or people who favorite your shop unless they have specifically told you that you can; however Etsy does not have a way for you to ask people to opt into a mailing list or newsletter.

What’s an Etsy seller to do?!

We’ve created the perfect solution. HandmadeNewsletter.com  is a site that provides you with a customized mailing list subscription page. It pulls in your Etsy shop branding so the subscription page feels like an extension of your shop.

Encourage people to opt in through your shop listings (this targets customers and people who are favoriting your items) as well as through your message to buyers for sold orders (to target people purchasing from your shop).

We have a ton of resources on the site that show you how you can most effectively use HandmadeNewsletter.com to gain newsletter subscribers. Our site follows all of Etsy’s TOU and we are an Etsy approved application.

Once you have a list of subscribers, use a free email provider like MailChimp to send newsletters with images of your products to your mailing list. You can promote new items in your shop or special promotions.

Every time you send out a newsletter to the people who have opted into your mailing list you will get traffic from people already interested in your items. Much more effective than spending hours each day on social media!

Try HandmadeNewsletter.com for free! We’re offering a one week free trial to make sure you’re in love with the service. If you find it’s not for you, cancel anytime within the first week and you won’t be charged.
