{Social Media} Increasing Your Fan Base on Facebook

Writing Prompt: Connecting with my Facebook fans is important me. This week I will ________ to show them that I appreciate them.

My interaction on Facebook can be better. I do share posts automatically via networked blogs and via hootsuite but I know I can’t keep people’s attention just spamming my boards with my blog posts. I need to get to know my fans, appreciate my fans, and get to know what they want to read about.

In trying to figure out how I’m going to use my fan page in 2013 I sat down and wrote the

Top 5 reasons I click on FB posts.

1.  A great story – when someone shares a great story I’m intrigued. I’m invited into their world and I feel a connection.
2. Great photo or Quote – I follow many positive quote pages because they uplift me throughout the day.
3. Cute product – Most of the products I click on are crochet. If you have a cute baby photo or some other crochet piece I’m probably going to check it. This will either lead me to like the Etsy shop, the FB page or even the Twitter account.
4. Great Headline – many times I’ll click on a post out of curiosity because the headline caught my interest. Sometimes I’ll read the entire post and share it but other times I’ll pin it for later.
5. Support – I love supporting crochet business owners so I’ll click on their sales and latest patterns just so I can see what they are up to and share it with my readers.

 Trending on Facebook:

•  Themed posts or shares i.e. Friday Fan Follows
• Fill in the blank questions or statements (the Six Sisters’ Stuff does this) post a statement like – “I like to sit on my porch sipping my _______.” Let your fans fill in the blank.
• Giveaways – always popular. Gloria of the Hat Factory is always letting her fans know of the latest giveaways she is hosting or other businesses are hosting.
• Featured Fan – showcase a fan who has been especially active on your page.
• Share other’s pages – Found a product you admire, show case another business fan page and let your readers know why you like them
