Selling Crochet Tip: Call Your Customer

This second week of the #31CBBC (Crochet Business Challenge) is all about Connections. These connections will increase your sales and traffic if you do it with some ‘smarticles’. ;)

In today’s webinar I will show you how the 80/20 rule can transform the way you do business. Instead of spending time on 100% of your customers you should be spending it on the top 20%. Why? Join me today at 1pm PST as I share How to Increase Your Sales with This One Simple Rule.

Yesterday I shared how emailing those who comment on your blog can benefit your business. It shows you are engaged and that you care.

One of my business mentors shared a great example of how you can make your ideal customer find you. If you want to learn more from Kim sign up for her Business Bootcamp. (freebie)

Basically, she had a problem, she searched for her problem, and one person had the solution she was looking for. Bingo! This is what you want to do for your crochet business.

What’s your ideal customer’s problem? Some examples may be:

  • On trend styles
  • Warm hands and feet
  • Flattering fashion
  • Slimming fashion
  • Fashion that is work appropriate
  • Fashion for a music festival
  • Fashion for fans (sports, celebrity, club)
  • Cute fashion for babies
  • Fashion for holidays

These are just some of the problems people who are searching for your crochet pieces are trying to solve. They might not necessarily search ‘crochet’ but if you describe your product in such a way that solves their problem, it doesn’t really matter that it is crocheted.

Example: Autumn Clothing for Newborns

For example, you’re a brand new mommy of a little girl. You want to take some photos of your newborn. You named her Autumn because that is when she was conceived. You might go online looking for autumn clothing for newborns. I did just that and found Cassie’s Closet Boutique Fall 2013 line.

Did I find what I was looking for? Yes! Super cute fall inspired clothing for newborns.

YOUR TURN->How can you do this with your shop listings or with your own blog?

Share your thoughts in the comments below. ;)

What does knowing your ideal customer and calling have in common?

This helps you design your lead capture page (or the page you send customers) to eliminate everyone except those searching for your product. (autumn clothing)

Let’s push it up a notch

You know people are having babies, you know there are photographers in your local area and you know your product is a fit for both. You can sit on your duff waiting and hoping that dropping your business card and posting fliers on bulletin boards will get their attention OR you can pick up the phone and ask to speak to the owner. (or person in charge of buying aka the decision maker)

Which do you think will get you to your sales goal faster?

This isn’t a sales call it is a qualification call. This means you are pre-qualifying them to make sure they meet your goal of selling your product.

Don’t be taken aback by those who aren’t interested because THEY are not your ideal customer. Move on until you find the one who is. You’ll know instantly and you might find that you actually enjoy seeking them out.

What’s on the Agenda for Today?

  • Comments are welcome and encouraged :)
  • Visit the FB group and add your post for the day to the pinned post if you’d like to receive at least 2-comments on your post.
  • Join the Crochet Business Blogger G+ Community
  • Community Event: Webinar: Increase Sales with This One Simple Rule 1pm PST
  • Add your blog url to the #31CBBC linky (not the post url) – this will help you identify who is participating
  • As you are visiting other bloggers, take note of any similarities you have or complimentary projects/services you have. This is a great time to jot down the blog name and get to know the blogger behind the blog. ;)
  • Don’t stress on writing a post each day. A picture with your thoughts, a video, a top 5 list, or simply a quote on why you like crochet all counts as a post.

Your Turn -> Call someone today and qualify them for your product OR ask if they do consignment or wholesale? Pop on back and leave a comment to let me know how it turns out.
