My 500 Words Day 7: Your Animal Personality

My 500 Words: Have Fun with Your Animal Personality

Prompt: If you were an animal which one would you be?

Today:  524 words

Total: 3400 words

Why not let your friends know you’re reading this:

The topic for today is a bit of a silly one which deals with your animal personality. This particular question is often used to get to know someone a bit better and/or as an icebreaker.

Last year my husband and I started a couples journal. It’s simply a journal with prompts in which we write our thoughts. This is one of the questions included.

At first I wrote down that I identify as a dolphin. Later though (4 or 5 months) I updated that journal entry to a snake.

This confused my husband so he asked me about it as the two seem to be opposite.

I guess the change came down to how I was feeling at the time. When he initially asked the question in the journal I felt like a dolphin. They are friendly, although I haven’t actually met one in person, the only dolphin I’m familiar with is Flipper the dolphin based on a television show.

Dolphins are smart, leaders, and caring. Flipper always helped in times of trouble.

According to Your Leadership Unleashed which compares your leadership qualities with animals, I am a dolphin. Someone who radiates kindness, peace, and harmony.

“Driven to create a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing environment, Dolphins are at their best helping others to achieve their goals.”

What animal personality are you? Take this quick questionnaire to see.

Identifying as a dolphin seems to fit according to this personality test so why would I change to a snake?

Snakes

Often times when I feel crummy about myself, I feel ‘snake-y’. What exactly is that?

I feel slimy although truth be told snakes don’t feel slimy at all but rather dry and cold.

I chose the snake because I’m cold or hidden from the warmth of my family. I hide in my hole and attack when bothered.

Qualities of a Snake according to Animal In You

  • shy and insecure (yes)
  • poisonous wit and quick tongue (oh boy yes)
  • lowly entry level positions (subservient jobs) no hopes of ‘door opening’ or luck (that’s me)
  • express themselves through art (writing)
  • recoils from publicity limelight (I’m a narcissistic loner ;) )

Pretty good evaluation of how I view myself in the job market. I don’t see myself in anything higher than a minimum wage job most likely a fast food worker (file clerk, cashier, nurses aid, stock handler – real jobs I’ve had) with no desire to hold a management position for fear of being responsible for others.

This insecurity or lack of self-confidence is probably why I hide behind a screen and freelance work.  I can remain anonymous yet earn a bit to pay the bills.

What are the Real Results: Hippo

The Animal in You Personality Test  results I really got was that of a hippo.

  • large
  • helpful
  • unpredictable
  • independent
  • honest
  • emotional

  • centered around food and its preparation
  • conflicting feelings
  • wallow in emotional stew
  • food as salve
  • loving warm creatures

Funny thing to note about this particular personality test is that one of the career matches suggested for this animal type is knitting which fits right into my obsession of all things yarn.

  1. Hi Sara!
You definately come across as a hippo personality :)
I did the animal personality test and got Eagle. At first I thought, no way! Reading it, yes I am an Eagle in many respects although I have quite a lot of dolphin in me too. An odd combination :D

    • Jan, I agree. I’ve never considered myself a hippo but that test opened the possibility in my awareness. It fits me well. ;) I think of an Eagle as majestic and strong it will be interesting to read what the test results say. Thanks for popping in.

  2. The first animal on my list was the wombat – and one of the alernatives on the other test tied in with the personality test I did the other day!
Have you read Tamsin post? It’s Not Just A Physical ThingMy Profile

    • Tamsin, first off I think the name ‘Wombat’ is super cute. Now I’ll need to see what personality traits go with that little guy. Taking the little tests are fun aren’t they?
