Meet Allie. She is the blogger behind Ramblings of a Wahm. I invited her to write a little about affiliate marketing because she was like many of us is trying to earn a living online. One way she does this is through marketing products made by others. She got over her fear of sales or recommending good stuff to her readers and wants to help you too.
Ready to Monetize Your Crochet Blog?
There comes a time when most bloggers have the yearning to monetize their efforts online and become entrepreneurs. A great way to start is through affiliate sales.
Affiliate sales have a very simple start up. There is almost no start up cost and, frankly, if you are passionate about what you sell you will have absolutely no problem making sales.
I mentioned above that there is “almost no start up cost”. Yet if you have looked into affiliate sales you are thinking that I am wrong. You are thinking there is no cost to start affiliate sales. But there is. There can be the cost of the product or service you are selling.
Which brings me to my next point.
I highly recommend you use what you sell. What better way to prove it is great product than to actually show it works? This makes you more believable to your readers. Get to know the product very well before selling it. Have a passion for selling it.
Also, the affiliate products you back should match or at the least compliment what you talk about. Don’t sell diapers if you blog about photography.
3 Tips For Using Your Affiliate Links
- Talk about the product in your newsletter
- Write a review post
- When blogging about a topic related to your product use your link
The most important tip I can give you about affiliate sales is to ALWAYS disclose that you will receive a commission when the product is purchased. A simple blurb at the end of the post is fine.
p.s. Sara here, I just wanted to add that you need to disclose all financial relationships including items you’ve been given to review.
Allie owns and writes at Ramblings of a WAHM blog where she helps mompreneurs reach their online goals through blogging and social media.
