July 4: How to Get Paid for Crocheting in Five Easy Steps

This entry is part 4 of 32 in the series CBB Challenge July 2012

Today you will decide how you’re going to build income from your crochet blog. Will it be via Google Ads? Will you start an Etsy shop or promote the one you already have?

In Hooking for Cash I highlight 10 ways you can make money with your crochet blog. You can purchase it for $4.99 in PDF format through the Buy page.

5 Ways to Cash in on Crocheting

Profiting from a crochet business takes determination, hard work, and investment of time and money as well as a bit of common sense.

First you need to choose something that you enjoy, crochet. Second, you need to put everything in order, business wise. Finally, you need to do research both online and offline. Taking all of these into consideration will prepare you to succeed in a business centered on your favorite hobby.

Step 1: Pick something that makes you happy

In order to do something full-time you must love what you are doing.

Step 2: Treat it like a business

Follow the rules – get your business license and register for a tax id number.

Step 3: Read books

Keep current and develop knowledge in your craft.

Step 4: Visit Websites

Visit websites and forums that cater to the crochet world. See what people are asking and share your love for your hobby.

Step 5: Make Connections

Get out there and say hi to your vendors and suppliers. Build relationships with them.

When you are serious about turning your hobby into a business you will choose something you love, develop your product or service and promote it to those who are searching for it.
