July 9: Don’t Be That Mom

This entry is part 9 of 32 in the series CBB Challenge July 2012

Did you know that July 5th was Workaholic’s Day? I didn’t. It was on a writing site that found that out. Again I came across this odd “celebration” when I read a blog post by one of the Ultimate Blog Challenge’s participants. Why do I bring this up you may be asking yourself?

Today is all about schedules. If left to ourselves we might be the type of mom who is on the computer working in the wee hours or the morning, when the children nap, after dinner, and after the children go bed for the night. Don’t be that mom.

Rules and ridgid schedules aren’t necessary to run a crochet business blog but a little bit order is necessary. When I was younger I was a very organized person. I loved schedules and lists.

Today I am not much of a schedule person. It stresses me out too much when I fail to meet my expectations so I pretty much gave up on them. Last year I came upon a blog schedule by an author friend and it really helped me put things into perspective. It splits things up into bite size projects with all the projects working together for the whole goal.

Barham Virtual Assistance, the blog I was reading that mentioned Workaholic’s day, has some really great time management tips.  She merges her home “to do” list with her work “to do” list. This way at the end of the day she can see all that she has done for the day. She also suggest that to tame the email beast you cut down on checking your email. It’s okay if you don’t answer each email as it comes in. Take a look at her article and don’t forget the comments – her readers know their stuff.
