Writing Prompt: My business goals for 2013 are:

Do you know the difference between business goals and business objectives? Up until recently I thought they were the same.

I read a sample business plan that explained that goals are where you want to go – the destination – while objectives are the progress markers or the proof that you have met your goals.

Knowing the difference between goals and objectives makes writing this prompt a little easier.

Crochet Business Goal:

Year 1: to develop an interactive community of new and returning customers via social media and my blog as well as make a steadily increasing stream of sales.

Even if you don’t have an official business do this writing prompt as it is great preparation.

Do you have a blog? What about an Etsy shop or Facebook page? Make your goals and objectives based on where you want to see these sites going as far as sales, visitors, interaction, etc.

(Officially speaking, if you sell something with the intention of making a profit (money) you are a business so please check with your local and state laws regarding self-employment or contract work)
