Selling Crochet: 3 Steps for Finding Paying Customers

Does Your Crochet Shop have More Viewers Than Buyers?

This is probably the most frustrating thing about selling your crochet. Many people dream of having a crochet business but the reality is if there are no buyers you have no business. This is why it is important for you to find your target market. (article I wrote on ideal customers links to squidoo.com)

Made using http://quozio.com/

1. Know where to look

Find out who she/he is and go to them. You aren’t going to find people to buy your baby photo prop items on a child-free forum – you might but it is rare. Look on mom forums and photographer forums. Don’t spam you are looking to advertise not blast them with your stuff. (see Finding Your Ideal Customer)

2. Follow the Money

Don’t advertise to someone in your income bracket if you are making under $20,000/year. If you are in a low income bracket you might want to wait a while before embarking on a crochet business endeavor. On the other hand Loralee was able to run her online business for just $30/month.

Always cater to those in the income bracket higher than you. Those with income to spare are more likely to spend than those who are struggling to make ends meet by selling crochet online. I highly recommend Sedruola’s article “The Shocking Truth About Selling Crochet“. {By the way if you are in the market for a business coach she runs the Yarn Circle mentor program.}

3. Know What They Want

Find out what matters to your buyers. Meet and exceed those expectations. Try and imagine a world with no income limits. Would you buy acrylic yarn from the local craft shop or would you go all out and buy the best? Would you make your own yarn?

Believe it or not there are people with the income to shop for what you can only dream of. Cater to them. Sell to them.
