Are You Listening To Your Blog Readers?

Blogging is a great hobby and can earn you an income if you pay attention to your readers. When I started blogging it was as a personal project journal.

Now that I need an income I’m using it to promote my eBook, my free crochet patterns, my articles and to share information.

I must admit though that analytics is just gibberish to me. When I added the code to my Etsy shop I wasn’t sure why I needed it, I did it because it was recommended. When I added it to various articles again it was because it was recommended. I can’t claim to know everything about analytics but this I do know – it’s how you know what your readers like and dislike.

With these statistics you get information on keywords people are using to find your blog, how many visitors are viewing your blog each day, how long they are staying on your site as well as where the traffic is coming from.

Use these stats to write posts that your readers want. Use keyword specific titles to draw traffic to your blog. Set a traffic goal for this challenge and see if you can meet it.

Today’s Assignment: Set up Google Analytics

  1. Learning all the crazy stuff that helps us on the internet can take a bit of time. I just keep on trying and learning and hoping one day to understand it all.

  2. @shawn I know huh? It sounds like I know what I'm talking about but that's only because I've learned from ladies and gentlemen that were willing to share their knowledge.
I interned for a Lady who taught me to “take it one item at a time. Understand how to use it and then work on the next thing”.
    Keep up your great work.
