Blog tours and Linkys
A Linky is defined as a tool to aid in blog hops. A blog hop is when you link together with other blogs for a common topic like ‘crochet hats’ or ‘etsy shop features’.
Linkytools.com is the site I use for this. There are other sites that offer the same service but I’m most comfortable with them.
Blog Tours (Hop) have mainly been used by book authors but more recently have been used by all product releases. I had a small one for my Hooking for Cash eBook release. Basically you get a number of blogs together to review your book or product, offer a giveaway, or just write a post about your book/product. You do this in a short amount of time like a week or less and traffic is driven to your buy page. It is a very effective marketing strategy.
Nicole Dean used a Blog tour to help market her affiliate products and blogs. Basically she visited 1 blog a week for 15 weeks. She did a guest post for each blog and gained business partnerships, traffic and sales. This is definitely a big undertaking but I can see the benefits of doing something on a large scale like this for a new product or a new blog.
Today’s Assignment:
Google ‘crochet linkys’ and check out the various active ones. Participate in one this week to get a feel for it. If you have time, schedule a blog tour for your blog by contacting a couple of bloggers you are familiar with. You don’t have to promote a product you can just write on the same topic or even host a giveaway.
